YorkTest sells food intolerance and allergy tests, including the Premium Food Intolerance Test, which analyses reactivity to 200 food and drink ingredients, and the Food Allergy Test, which tests IgE reactions to 23 different food allergies and 19 different environmental allergens. It also sells a Junior Food Intolerance Test for children over 2 years old, covering over 100 food and drink ingredients. Its health tests include the Annual Health Test, which provides results for 39 health markers, the Essential Health Check with 18 health markers, and single-marker tests for cholesterol, vitamin D, liver function, thyroid, cortisol, inflammation (CRP), female hormones, female fertility, menopause, male hormones and metabolic health. YorkTest offers a complete home-to-laboratory service for all tests and programmes. The kit is posted to you with a return envelope included for posting your sample back, and once the sample has been tested, your results are sent to you by post. For tests posted to addresses outside the UK, YorkTest generally anticipates a delivery time of 10 working days.

Good to know about YorkTest

YorkTest has been conducting health screening services for over 35 years and was founded in 1982 on the campus of the University of York. All food intolerance, allergy and health tests are carried out by trained, qualified scientists at its in-house YorkTest laboratory, with carefully selected, accredited laboratory partners for certain health tests. Every sample is anonymised using a unique reference number. YorkTest states that its tests show a 98% reproducibility rate and that its quality assurance procedures are independently audited to meet international standards, including ISO 13485:2016 compliance. After a Food Intolerance Test, YorkTest offers a personalised 30-minute consultation with one of its nutritional therapists. YorkTest states a 92% customer satisfaction rate and that four out of five people would recommend YorkTest to their family and friends. In 2025, YorkTest launched a German-language website. YorkTest’s tests are not available on the NHS, though some health insurance providers cover the cost of some tests.
